2023 APACRS CERTIFIED EDUCATOR (A.C.E.) Skills transfer becomes progressively more crucial to providing quality eye care as the fields of cataract and refractive surgery continue to advance. The APACRS Certified Educator (A.C.E.) program was launched in 2002 to motivate ophthalmic surgeons to play a more active role in disseminating the latest advances and techniques to their colleagues. This year’s awards are supported by Alcon, Johnson and Johnson Vision, and ZEISS. Prof Jodhbir Mehta is Executive Director, Head of the Tissue Engineering and Cell therapy group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute; Distinguished Professor with DUKE-NUS GMS; Senior Consultant (former Head), Corneal and Refractive Service SNEC; Director of Education, Singhealth Transplant; Deputy Executive Director SDCT. Named Professor of Clinical Innovation at SNEC/SERI, he has published >490 peer-reviewed papers and 20 book chapters. Current H-index 65, citations 16,340. He has given >380 invited plenary, symposium and named lectures globally with over 63 national and international awards, most recently the 11th College of Ophthalmologist lecture, Singapore (2022). His research work has generated 16 patents, 5 of which have been licensed to companies. Jodhbir MEHTA Singapore 19 Dr Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman & Medical Director of Centre For Sight group of eye hospitals, is a renowned ophthalmic surgeon who is recognized for his expertise in the areas of corneal, refractive and cataract surgery, both nationally and internationally. He is widely credited to be a pioneer in India in propagating the technique of phacoemulsification for cataract surgery and LASIK for the removal of glasses. He has been honored with the Padmashri award for his excellence in the field of medicine by Hon. President of India Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 23 March 2007. He is currently the Chairman of Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society (India). He has also been elected International Member by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Mahipal SACHDEV India Clinical Associate Professor Mohamad Rosman is Head of the Refractive Surgery Department and Senior Consultant with the Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department at SNEC. He has trained and obtained fellowships from the National University of Singapore (1997); the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and the Academy of Medicine in Ophthalmology (2007); SNEC and VISSUM Eye Institute in Spain. His research interests include refractive surgery, cataracts, and the epidemiology of eye diseases among Singaporean Malays. He has published papers in international peer-reviewed journals on these topics and written several book chapters on refractive surgery. In addition, he has participated in numerous local and international conferences and has organized instructional courses on refractive surgery both locally and overseas. Mohamad ROSMAN Singapore
