108 FILM FESTIVAL 电影节 FILM FESTIVAL FF4 – GENERAL INTEREST 电影节FF4–其他 TITLE PRODUCER FF4-01 Irrigation Microtrabeculotomy (Ab Interno) in Combined Surgery of Glaucoma and Cataract Dmitry IVANOV Russia First, animation of Schlemm’s canal functional block is presented. Changes in the trabecula play the main role here. The developed instrument – irrigation trabeculotome – and the technique of operation allowing trabecular block elimination are presented. Several cases of trabeculotomy with subsequent contrast injection clearly demonstrate hypotensive mechanism of operation which is restoration of aqueous outflow via Schlemm’s canal. In conclusion, the results of 105 combined operations with follow-up of at least 3 years are presented. The IOP has dropped by 30% from the initial level. Complete hypotensive effect (without hypotensive drops) was achieved in 77% of cases. Early postop complications such as hyphaema were marked in 3% of cases. So, the technology has proven to be simple, highly effective, safe, and also time- and money-saving. FF4-02 Education as the Key to Reduce Cataract-induced Blindness Bryan Hung-Yuan LIN Chinese Taipei According to statistics, cataract remains the leading cause of blindness, with insufficient patient awareness about cataracts being a significant factor. This video aims to delve into the challenges faced by cataract patients while introducing how we can assist more cataract patients in quickly regaining healthy vision through education and awareness campaigns. FF4-03 Visualization Hisaharu SUZUKI Japan Visualization is very important in ophthalmology. In surgery, advances have been made in heads-up surgery, and in diagnostic technology, various image processing techniques have been improved. In this VIDEO, we present a technology to sharpen images without modifying them with AI or other means. This technology is expected to advance diagnostic techniques and surgery in ophthalmology. FF4-04 STOP Animal Experiments for Ocular Research: Let’s Find a Way! Anushree BHATKAL India Animal model studies have played a crucial role in biomedical research. However, with the growing ethical concerns, there has been a preference to prioritize cell culture studies over animal models. Through this video, we aim to highlight the benefits and challenges of using cell culture studies as adjunctive animal model studies. Cell culture studies offer a reproducible experimental environment to study cellular responses to various stimuli. It also helps in screening treatment options and offers opportunities for personalized medicine. However, cell culture models may not fully replace the complexity of whole organisms and interactions between different tissues or organ systems. Overcoming these challenges will further enhance their utility in advancing our understanding and treatment of various diseases. FF4-05 Innovative Anchor Dennis Ket Ming KONG Malaysia 60 year old man with traumatic zonulysis and subluxation of left cataract. Intraoperatively during phacoaspiration of nuclear segments there was risk of increasing zonulysis and capsular tension ring was inserted. Again during aspiration of cortex there was risk of increasing zonulysis and a Cionni Ring (more readily available) was cut and cauterised to blunt it and used as an Capsular Tension Segment and fixation arm anchored to sclera using polypropylene 6/0. FF4-06 ‘Gently Does It’ – Pearls on iris management Mun Wai LEE Malaysia As cataract surgeons, we often encounter challenging situations involving the iris tissue and being such a delicate and important structure within the anterior segment, any mishandling or damage to the iris can result in significant effects and poor outcomes for our patients. This video highlights different scenarios a surgeon may encounter and shares pearls on management of difficult situations. It will illustrate techniques to manage iris prolapse, the use of different pupil expansion devices, iris suturing techniques and general tips on handling iris tissue. The principles of management in difficult scenarios would serve as the key take home message from this video and would be an important addition to the armamentarium of the cataract surgeon.
