14 BI Hongsheng 毕宏生 China 2024 APACRS GOLD MEDAL The APACRS Gold Medal is awarded to outstanding ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific for their significant and outstanding contributions to the development of ophthalmology, particularly in cataract and refractive surgery in the region. Bi Hongsheng, MD, holds many positions, including director of Affiliated Eye Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, dean of several institutions including Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical College of Optometry and Ophthalmology, and chairman of the Ophthalmic Specialty Committee of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. He serves as an editorial board member of authoritative ophthalmology journals such as the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology and the Chinese Journal of Optometry and Vision Science. He has presided over 49 scientific research projects at national, provincial, and ministerial levels, and has received numerous awards including the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress, the first prize of the Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress, and the honorary titles of State Council Government Special Allowance Expert, National Innovation and Pioneering Award, and National May 1st Labor Medal. Prof. Bi has published 574 academic papers in Lancet, Nature, and other authoritative SCI journals and core journals.
